Weddings

Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.  Thanks for considering me to participate in your special day.  Who am I, and what do I believe about marriage? I am an ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church in Canada, licensed to perform marriages by the Province of Ontario. I happily perform ceremonies for couples regardless of gender.

I believe that marriage is a gift from God.  It is a joy to share our lives with another person, to create a new relationship.  Partners in a marriage are equal, bearing equal authority and responsibility. A wedding is an opportunity to celebrate a marriage in the presence of God, friends and family.  It is also a time to publicly commit to one another, and to sign legal documents.  I am a minister of the Church, and I understand a wedding ceremony to be a time of worship in which we praise and thank God for the gift of marriage, and pray for the couple and their future life. This does not mean that the wedding must be formal, stuffy, or “too religious.” I am open to a variety of creative possibilities for your ceremony. It is, however, important for you to know that I view your ceremony as a time of Christian worship.

My fee for officiating is $500.  This fee includes my travel expenses, a face-to-face meeting, communication by phone and/or email, a rehearsal, and the ceremony.  You may pay by cash, cheque or etransfer, on the day of the wedding or before.
